Never Sleeping City |
|
I have never before been acquainted
with one
such as you;
never in my lifetime believed I would meet
a mother never resting.
But nestled inside the warmth of your nurturing mind
a "polite" party howls
as if to herald the moon herself.
You are a city that will never sleep,
and you are happy in doing so.
Your darkness rining beaten against the neon lights glow,
reflecting off palm fronds and swamp grass,
rippling lakes and ferry boats.
The natives, residents, relatives, tourists --
they scream in errant bliss, forgetting all worries
for a temporal moment.
Your blood sings with them,
and for this joy, this absolute harmony,
you are the city that will never sleep.
